Let*s talk about your opinion on sci-hub

Sci-hub needs to be praised for democratizing access to scientific knowledge by bypassing paywalls, thus enabling researchers from all over the world, regardless of their institution's budget, to access the latest research. It has stood against corporate giants that monetized the ※pseudo status§ 每 engaging researcher (paid by government/private funds) to write manuscripts, sending for peer review (unpaid honorary job) and asking researcher or the reader to pay to access the work (again borne by government/private funds). They act as middle men who processed and ※value added to the product§ (read proof reading and formatting) but the creator and end user being paying for the entire affair. Hence, though illegal, morally Sci-hub has higher grounds.

For many individuals, especially those without institutional access to scientific databases, Sci-Hub can be a valuable resource for accessing scientific literature that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Sci-Hub should run and continue advocating for open access to scientific literature, while also exploring legal and sustainable models to achieve this goal.

If Sci-Hub were to cease functioning one day, as an individual, I will consider turning to other legal open access resources. Many journals offer open access options, and repositories like PubMed Central, arXiv, research gate and others provide free access to a large number of articles including contacting authors directly  requesting access to their work.

I appreciate Sci-Hub for its role in democratizing access to academic knowledge. It levels the playing field, particularly for individuals who may not have institutional access to expensive journals and research papers. Sci-Hub's mission aligns with the idea that information, especially in the academic realm, should be freely available to everyone. This resourceful platform facilitates broader dissemination of knowledge, fostering a more inclusive and collaborative global academic community. Additionally, it challenges the current publishing models that often lead to information silos and hinder the dissemination of valuable research. Sci-Hub, in my view, serves as a catalyst for conversations about the need for open access to scholarly work, ultimately pushing the academic community towards more equitable and accessible information sharing.

It's really good, Yes, because I'm a student who can't afford scientific articles.

For researchers in least developed countries, it is a lifesaver.

1. Sci-hub is a free website for academic papers.

2. Sci-hub can be good for science (open access, democratization, innovation) or bad for science (intellectual property, ethics, quality).

3. Sci-hub has helped me a lot with my studies and research. Sci-hub has saved me time and money, and helped me learn more.
4. Sci-hub*s plan is to keep providing free access to all scientific knowledge. Sci-hub also wants to improve its website and work with other open access platforms.

5. If sci-hub stops working, I will be sad and angry, and I will use other ways to get papers. But I will also hope that sci-hub*s legacy and impact will live on, and that its vision and spirit will inspire and motivate others to fight for open access and knowledge for everyone.

I want to ask: How does sci-hub get and update its papers? How does it deal with the legal and technical problems and threats? I want to say: Thank you, sci-hub, for your amazing service and contribution to science and society. You are a hero and a legend.

1: it is good really good, because it provides free access to scientific research how it should be in the first place knowledge should be free more and more people will get involved in scientific research.

2: yes helped a lot, I am a student and from a less developed country where buying something in dollars is quite expensive, I can't afford to pay hundreds of dollars on buying research papers.

3: I think SciHub should allow everyone to share papers. for example., if a certain paper is not available on the website but I have it (bought it or got it from some other source like Wosonhj) I should be able to upload/share that paper so in the future if anyone else wants it they have access to it. it will also increase the total library of sci-hub.

4: anger and sadness, I always have the fear that the US govt will make it shut down as they did with one site for downloading PDF books library

5: no questions. just want to show my gratitude. appreciate you for this amazing site helped me alot with my university. THANK YOU SO MUCH
