AbstractIrbid city in northern Jordan is characterized by many traditional courtyard houses, which are one of the architectural styles in Jordan. The courtyard houses in Irbid have different design styles. These houses have been examined in many previous studies with different methods and are usually interpreted as a response to different cultural and social values. However, there is still a need to understand the spatial configuration of courtyard houses and to analyze the connectivity and integration between various spaces using quantitative analysis. This paper applied space syntax techniques, to reveal the topo-logical layout of courtyard houses in Irbid City using depthmap software based on the convex map model, taking Al Nabulsi House as a case to analyse the spatial configuration be-tween different spaces. The findings contributed theoretically to understanding spatial configurations in traditional courtyard houses in Irbid city, and confirm the importance of traditional architectural components.
