Abstract: Thallium (Tl) poisoning severely degrades V2O5-WO3/TiO2 (VWT) catalysts in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems. This study demonstrates that ZSM-5 modification enhances Tl tolerance and SCR performance. Incorporating 10 wt% ZSM-5 doubled the BET surface area (31.2 ↙ 60.9 m2﹞g−1), increased surface acidity by 41 %, and enabled 100 % NOx conversion at 275 ∼C (vs. 350 ∼C for VWT). After 3 wt% Tl poisoning, ZSM-5-modified VWTZ10 retained 94 % NOx conversion (vs. 43 % for VWT), attributed to ZSM-5∩s preferential Tl anchoring (忖Eformation: −6.75 eV) via Si-O(H)-Al sites, shielding active VOx on TiO2. Regeneration with 5 mol/L HCl removed 86 % Tl but leached vanadium; V replenishment restored activity to 100 % at 350每450 ∼C. Mechanistic analyses (XRD, XPS, DFT) revealed Tl-induced structural degradation and acidity loss, mitigated by ZSM-5∩s protective role. This dual strategy-ZSM-5 modification and acid regeneration-provides a sustainable solution for Tl-poisoned SCR catalysts, enhancing heavy metal resistance and enabling practical regeneration.
